Some users say that there was a virus detected in some of my apps. Could it be that some ad companies are recognized as viruses? I run Airpush and StartApp in my apps.
Yes. Virus scanners on mobile are stupid to flag this stuff as viruses.
Yes, pretty much any network which offers notification ads will get your app flagged as a “virus” by these apps - even if you don’t use notifications! The only solution I’ve found is to post a note in the app’s description, telling people that this is a false alarm and your app does not actually contain a virus.
It’s quite ridiculous how far they’ve taken this false-positive. I even had AVG Antivirus on my Laptop computer wipe the Airpush SDK from my development folder. Because it thought it was a virus!
