How many network does an app developer have to max out his revenues?

Hi developers,

This is question that’s been on my mind for quite a while. I created a model that can answer this question:
How many networks are needed to optimize mobile ad monetization? - Mobile Dev Memo

Truly hope you like it.
If you have any comments, please share them with me.

Jonathan,

Thanks for the writeup.
I am a little confused and hoping you can provide some explanation.

Are you saying adding multiple ad networks does not increase the revenue by more than 10%? If we use only admob today, What do you think will be revenue increase if we add couple of adnetworks? Obviously it depends on App/GEO etc but what is the reasonable range one can expect?

Hi Jim,

There’s no short answer for that question, but I’ll try to be short.
If you’re using only 1 ad network, chances are that by adding a second ad network you will be able to increase revenue by a lot more than 10% (again, if it’s good ad networks, fits your need/GEO’s, has a lot of demand, if you mediate those 2 networks the right way, etc).
However, if you already have 4 ad networks running, the 5th ad network will probably make a smaller difference in revenues. I cannot specualate about someone else, but I can tell you that for us at CallApp, a 5% increase is enough to keep an ad network integrated.

I hope this answers your question. If not, please tell me.

Thanks for response. That answered my question.
