AdMob will automatically start passing location data to the SDK from users who have granted your apps permission to do so after May 14, 2016. Logically this should improves our ECPM with Admob. But they also stated this:
“You should never request location permissions from users for the sole purpose of advertising.”
What if we do that? Will we get banned?
Thanks.

Do not know about banning.
But user might think that its utter unnecessary to show a pop up asking about location if your app has not any functionality related to location.
In this way your app can loose faith in users revealing that its something sniffing stealthly.
Thanks, but I understand that and that is not what I am asking.

Well if purpose is not sole advertising, you go ahead thinking of new purpose :D:D
May be testing of their location feature :D:D
