Why are you exchanging rates?

Hello,

Recently i noticed lots of topics about rates exchange. Aren’t you afraid that people who wants to try your app will notice that your rates are fake? I understand having 5 rates of 5 stars. But when i see apps with 10 - 50 downloads and 25 rates with average 4.9 - 5.0 it’s clearly fake. No app has such average, and no app has such ratio of rates / installs.

Also, that may lead to worse ranking position. Because i bet it looks that way:

  • install app
  • rate
  • uninstall

Probably it happens in couple of minutes. Google probably is also ranking based on install / uninstall ratio. And in such exchanges, most of installs are uninstalled.

Who knows, maybe Google even gives negative ranking for such fake rates - it’s easy to implement algorithm detecting it.

So, why are you doing it?

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Google could detect “rating networks”, meaning users that repeatedly rate each other’s apps, and penalize them in the search results. I’d be careful… But then, maybe I’m getting paranoid.
