Before I release my new game I just wanted to ask that, if I have button that says “rate the game” on the game menu against Google Play policies?
This button obviously links to the games Google Play page.

Yea and it’s suggested to have this button, or even a pop-up it can increase the application ratings.
You can have a button to ask people to rate your app, however you can’t have incentivized reviews (ie. promise them in-app currency in return for rating your app).
