Wow. I’ve read this thread from start to finish and the one before it. Bronsoner , you really are a great guy.
May I ask some advice as well?
I’ve just launched my first game a few days ago, and what I’ve done so far is:
I’ve tried to modify my app’s description to make it longer and to use repetitively certain words I wanted to use as keywords. Mainly “memory”, “attention” and “shuffle” . I know there’s a lot of competition for the word memory, but it might help me if it pairs me with some succesful memory apps on the similar apps tab. Attention is a word that is somewhat searched, but not as competitive as “memory” so I’m thinking I might have a shot. And “shuffle” is a word where at least I know I can get ahead, even if probably noone realistically searches for it. I also made sure my title and my small description also have the words “shuffle”, “memory” and “attention” . Is this the way you do ASO for words, or am I doing it wrong?
Since my screen doesn’t really change a lot, I used the screenshots to describe the gameplay and the game’s features to provide variety . I have on many occasions not been able to understand anything about the gameplay from screenshots of other games, and I wanted to make sure my game made it clear from the start.
3)I made the background for my icon transparent to make it look ok, but I’m not sure if I nailed it right. What do you think?
I made a really crappy promo picture, but I didn’t really have any idea what to put in there, and I’m not really very skilled at graphics. I’m not really sure how much this is hurting my app, because I usually completely ignore the promo pictures for apps I download…
I tried to do the most I could with the graphics of the game given my lack of skill, and seeing as it’s a memory game I thought I could make it pass but I’m not so sure. There were people on reddit who told me the graphics looks placeholderish and I couldn’t really blame them. So far I haven’t had complaints except for one guy, but then again most of my reviews are from review exchanges so that doesn’t really tell me much.
I tried to get a small early boost by getting a few review exchanges, I’ve written about my game in the signature I use in a few forums, I’ve placed my app on a few app directories and I’ve emailed like a hundred android review sites, big and small, hoping for at least one response, but that remains to be seen. I am also planning to e-mail a lot of youtubers, search for more directories, post on more submission sites and forums and place my game in all of the alternatives to google market that exist .
The biggest problem your game has is fonts and their colors - this really really needs an improvement as it makes screens look horrible. Let me know if you need professional help with that.
Description is long and with keywords - nice.
While your icon relates to game content, colors used are a bit bland, maybe you could spice things up a bit?
Basically you need a lot better presentation before you should start promoting this game, and fonts and their colors are the problem.
So, I would like you to spent some minutes and check it. Please review, comment anything you like, graphics, gameplay, launch icon (both 2 modes, adventure and classic)
Apart from the code, I have also do the graphics and in both of them I have not any peviously experience before.
So, any valuable comment here would be more than welcomed.
At the end, advise me what are my key factors of success in the game, i.e the things that you bieleve I shoud not change in the future and make the game let’s say unique.
Of course, please give me also a list of the top 5 let’s say things I should avoid, and should change in my game asap
Thank you once again!!!
It’s basically a free puzzle game with a unique style of solving puzzles. At least I did not see any other game that uses this style.
Also I offer hundreds of free puzzles. Maybe a bit too much.
So you basically want me to write for you an article about game development best practices? Be serious. You have nice description and enough reviews, the looks need work on every step: icon, screens, game itself, fonts - they all show poor quality.
