Well folks, here's a thread where you can get to know each other. For new members, feel free to post a bit about yourself - where you come from, what you like to do, what makes you awesome :)

To start things off, I'm David Webb from Queensland, Australia. You may know me from my blog, http://makingmoneywithandroid.com/. Apart from Android though, I've got a lot of other interests including music (I play piano), photography & reading old-fashioned physical books (action, mystery & classical literature mainly). My most recent read was "Ghost In The Wires" by Kevin Mitnick - an entertaining & enlightening book about the most wanted hacker in the world.

My gear consists of a Samsung Galaxy S II, Apple iPad 2 (soon to be joined by the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime), an Asus laptop (Core i7, 12GB RAM), and the old HTC Magic.

If you're interested in my Android apps, check them out on the Android Market (https://market.android.com/developer?pub=The+Big+Byte).
For a full bio of my computer related activities, check out the blog (http://makingmoneywithandroid.com/about/).
If you'd like to stay in touch, sign up to this forum ;) or find me on Google+ (https://plus.google.com/u/0/115578224090485355580).

Now, what about you?

Alright, I'll go. I'm Oli Wright, currently based in London, England. I'm an ex-dev turned project manager who's periodically playing with Android development in his spare time. Unfortunately the latter is in short supply, but I'm trying to at least keep my eye on what's going on. Outside of Android and work I enjoy playing the guitar, videogames (I admin over at UK-TF (http://uk-tf.co.uk)) and picking up whatever random skills I can through Groupon (most recently, sushi making ...). Have recently been reading some classic Sci-Fi (the Ender's Game series) but am currently getting into The Future of The Internet and How To Stop It (http://futureoftheinternet.org/) as it's been sitting on my bookshelf for 3 years ...

I wield a HTC Desire HD and iPod touch on the move, with a backup Samsung Galaxy Europa at home. I have a custom built desktop for gaming et al, and then a Macbook Air for portability.

Hello David, Oli and the others,

I'm Johannes Borchardt from Munich, Germany. I have been an Android fan and developer since the beginning of 2009. Since then I've published some apps (see here (https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Johannes+Borchardt) and here (https://market.android.com/developer?pub=ANDLABS)) and founded ANDLABS (www.andlabs.eu), a company specialized in Android development. I was blessed to work with some of the most talented Android developers out there and am blogging on some Android related topics on droid-blog.net (http://droid-blog.net).
I'm a passionate practitioner of the martial art Aikido and love training.

My current equipment is a Exo PC running Honneycomb X86, a Nexus One, a Galaxy Nexus and some older Vaio laptop which I connect to a 40" Samsung smart TV.

Hi @ everyone

My name is Eike aka Zet and I am living in Hamburg, Germany. I am working for a browser game company and am developing my own stuff in my free time (which is pretty short). I started looking into the Android SDK just about six months ago. I have now released my first game on the market and am absolutely not impressed with my download stats (not gonna mention *income*). I therefore try to figure out now why this is the case (I think I am better at coding), hence stumbling on this forum :)

My Android market stuff is here. (https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Eike+Decker)

I am also on Google+ (https://plus.google.com/117716667591567551020/)

I call two Android devices my own, a G1 and a Nexus S.

My passion is coding and drawing.

Your game is really really cool. Very nice! Added a good comment to the market. Hope it catches on.

Nice to meet you.

Hey guys,

My name is Charlie.

I am a software engineer out of New Jersey who is making Android games in his spare time for fun mostly, with a dribble of income. Currently I am working for a major telecommunications company during the day and making games by night.

As a history, I first got into coding for games by making a mod for the original version of quake called Headhunters. It was pretty popular and has been ripped off for many games since, including the most recent version of Halo.

Since then, I have dabbled in learning 3D graphics programming but only as a part time effort for fun. No real education.

When I got my original Droid, I figured I would give programming for Android a try. I taught myself Java which I didn't know and OpenGL which I only had a little experience in and cracked open my old high school Trig textbooks and made a game called Lava Ball (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.exit4.app.lavaballfree&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiw iY29tLmV4aXQ0LmFwcC5sYXZhYmFsbGZyZWUiXQ..). Problem is that I spent too much time on the technology of the game and very little time on actually making the game fun. As it stands, it is still a pretty cool tech demo and has made a little money with about 400 paid downloads.

Rebound (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.exit4.app.rebound&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5le Gl0NC5hcHAucmVib3VuZCJd) was my next game which was really simple to code and is a fun game. I am making about 5 bucks a day off of that one mainly because of its very high CTR. It has about 40K downloads but only 7K actives.

Tap Crazy (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.exit4.app.tapfree&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiw iY29tLmV4aXQ0LmFwcC50YXBmcmVlIl0.) is my latest effort. It has about 15K downloads and 3 K actives and is making a few bucks a day for me.

My latest is a brick breaker/breakout style game that is not released. It is pretty cool.

Gonna try to churn out a bunch of low end advertised games with cross referenced ads to each other (papi marketing style) after that to try to increase revenue.

Anyway, that is my story. Nice to meet you all.

Regards

FYI, currently using a Droid Razr.

Let me introduce myself too.

I'm Martin from the Netherlands, 30 years old and working as a developer for the last 10 years.
Got into programming when I was about 12 years old and never stopped since.

I had tree windows phones before I got my first Android phone at the beginning of 2011. And I liked the idea of an open OS so I started looking into programming for Android in November this year. So basicly I just started. I'm planning of making a couple of apps in 2012, till then I am just working at simple concepts and learning the Android framework.

I also write a blog at http://martin.cubeactive.com I try to give helpfull posts about the programming languages I use. The last two months I mainly blogged about Android.

I stumbled upon this blog and it is fun to see a developer passionate about his apps. I hope you reach your goal soon David.

Currently I own a Desire-Z and of course a Windows laptop.

Hello,

I'm Brian and I'm from the southern US. I work as a SQL database developer and started writting apps as a hobby.

I preordered the original HTC Dream (G1) and have been a huge android fan ever since. I always wanted to get into coding apps for it but never did until earlier this year. I could kick myself for that because if I would have started back then I could have gotten my aps noticed alot quicker since the market was tiny then.

I have a couple of apps released so far and working on my third which I hope to release in the next month. I've gotten an ok number of downloads (almost 5k) but my income is really small. I'm learning that banner ads alone don't cut it unless you can get a huge audience or an app that people spend a lot of time in.

Here is a link to my blog. I have a couple of income reports there. fiveHellions Development (http://fivehellions.blogspot.com/)

Hi I'm Tim from the Netherlands,

I'm 37 and own a bar restaurant in Amsterdam.

I've recently started doing my bachelor in Software Engineering (HBO Informatica) and for one of the modules I have to do a, small, desk research about a subject I can choose myself.

I chose to write a piece about the different ways to make money on the Android market so I ended up here right at the start of the forum.

One of the things I plan to do with the skills I learn in my study is do some app developing so my stay here will hopefully not be limited to just the duration of my assignment. Seems like I've found a place with great potential and already people with quite some experience under their belts are showing up.

I guess I'll take the role as the one who asks all the beginner questions so the rest of you can feel good about yourselves! :P

Hello from Boston everyone!

Great place David! Its good to see a forum where people discuss their market experiences here as well. I've been doing android for about 2 years now and have always wanted to have apps on the android market. So, I am here for ideas, interests, tech discussions, getting help and just for the fun of discussing android. :)

Going by the template, I find myself reading a lot of astronomy and physics related articles (but do not have the patience of reading a book).

- Keep coding!

I'm from the US, Kansas to be exact. I can tell I'm the most total newbie here. I started out as a computer science major years ago & changed to business mgt because I didn't want to sit behind a computer all day - well, I sit behind one anyway, just not doing what I really like doing. When my kids were young I used to install Linux on our computers... I'm talking 12-14 years ago; my daughter hated the penguin. Now she's in college & taking CS101; she calls me and asks how Android came about & to tell me the computer lab computers run on Linux. That darn penguins come a long ways I tell her. Through the years I've done warranty work for Dell & HP.... Ya, that really paid well....it was just in m my spare time....kind of how I got my computer fix. my original rooted moto Droid was what got me interested in Android development, & a half price Lenovo k1 tablet has just added to the fascination.

Found your site this morning & mybringback on YouTube to help me get the sdk's installed & start learning java, so I'm probably St for some late, frustrating nights

Hello Fellow Android Developers/Users!

My name is Yolanda and I'm currently living in Los Angeles, CA. I have an ongoing ecommerce business selling children's formal wear (PinkPrincess.com) but have left the daily operations of the company and started an Android and iOS game and app development company.

I'm passionate a entrepreneur, blogger, photographer, actor, filmmaker, hiker, and home cooker!

In 2009, my co-founder Gary Suyemoto of Mad Mochi (www.madmochi.com) and I decided to combine our shared passion in fun and simple games to create new, fulfilling experiences for today's gamers.
Our goal is to create and combine casual, social, and hard core gaming all into one for the iPhone, iPad, Android, Flash, and much more.

We started off publishing our first Android game now on the Android Market (Tip Tap Tile Ultimate Edition) and am now continuing to make more apps as well.

If anyone has any questions I can help with, I am more than happy to try my best. Cheers!

Hi everyone

I'm from Switzerland, 25 years old and into computers since the age of 7. I'm currently finishing my bachelor and working part time in a major telco. I started with android apps in april 2011 and got a pretty great start with 3 soundboards with over 100k downloads each.

I've made the Achmed , Portal 2, Hangover Part 2 and Walter Soundboards which were all disabled by google without any specific reason after 3-6 months (but obviously because of copyright problems ;) )

So I then started with my new app called Facr (https://market.android.com/details?id=ch.nexusinformatik.facr.me) which is a Face Recognition app, but sadly it's more like a tech demo. I definately missed the business case with this app.

Anyway some nice app ideas are ghosting around my head and you can expect them to appear soon :D

I should probably put something in here. My name's Matt, I live in a little place called Kenley and work in Croydon. I work with Pensions, although luckily I'm out of pension admin now - I'm one of the people they call in when it's discovered that a mistake has been made. I work out the impact and tell them how to fix it. It can be interesting, but mostly not. In March I'll be moving to a new company and a different job, and I have no real idea what it involves except that there will be lots of spreadsheets. I can't wait.

I have a beautiful wife, a lovely little dog and a cute cat at home, and they're what prompted me to start working with Android. I've always been interested in programming, but mostly limited to hobby-work. A few php websites for friends and forums, the occasional VB macro to make work a bit easier. When I got my HTC Desire, I was very keen to have a play with Android, but I've never done anything with Java. I had a play with App Inventor, and released a couple of things (mostly tying in to php webpages) but never really had a good enough grasp to try monetising.

I've been following the MakingMoneyWithAndroid blog almost from the beginning, and it's been a real inspiration. Part of my new year's resolutions this year was to spend more time with Java and learn how to use it - and I finally found a little time. My first proper Java app has been released to the market yesterday (although I'm going to make a separate post about it in the promote your app bit of the store rather than put links here).

I hope to make a few pennies so that I can eventually work from home on apps. That's a long way off though...

Hi Everyone,

Guess it's my turn. My name is Dustin Hansen, I'm from Idaho, in the US. I'm 31 (ancient, right?) and I've been programming in one capacity or another for 13 years. My first Android phone was the G1, and I've loved it just as much as it seems you guys have ever since.

I've got two kids, and I actually started programming a game specifically for my daughter that just entered first grade this year. A couple of friends saw the game while she was playing it, and they wanted a copy too, so I figured, wtf, why not throw it up on the Android market.

I've got two apps up now, and the first one is near 3,000+ downloads, and the most recent one is gaining about 100+ new users a day, it's pretty cool to see how quickly a good game can gain traction in the marketplace.

I'm primarily using PhoneGap/Cordova as I really like the aspect of using HTML5, CSS3, and canvas for building nice cross-platform games that finally have hardware acceleration!

Nice to meet you all. ^_^

Hi everyone!

My name is Stan, I'm currently living in Australia.
I'm a beginner developer for Android. So far I've only released one game called Doptrix (http://market.android.com/details?id=com.doptrix)
Seems like I managed to make it unique and interesting, it already has ~15.000 downloads and 4.7 rating, which is good, right? :)
Unfortunately, monetization is not going very well. I hope to find some valuable tips on this forum.

Hi all,

I've been reading the blog and forums for a while, but probably time I interact now ;)

I live Cape Town, South Africa.

I've been in the IT industry for over 10 years doing mostly support, but after working my way from fixing pcs to fixing servers to fixing linux, pabx system and firewalls and getting bored, I've slowly started moving over to software development. Like most others here, my personal time to work on apps is quite limited, especially since I do software development (web-based business software) at work all day I don't always want to code at night.

I'm developing apps with a friend, he does design, graphics and testing while I do the coding. We've got a basic website running currently - www.ambrosia-designs.co.za which we use for the apps we make as well as our gaming addictions (mmos).

We actually started with Blackberry development (my work phone is a blackberry so was a good place to start), and I'm hoping to find time soon to actually produce an income report for everyone to see regarding the blackberry app side of things.

I've shifted to android as there's a much bigger market and more ways to monetize.

The plan is to slowly but surely generate enough income to work on it full time.

Hey everyone,
I'm a 29-year-old Swede who found this forum today. ^^
This seems like a nice and friendly place, and I like it how people share their ups and down with tips and tricks with monetizing in apps. I released my first app in February this year, and it's going kinda slow cause I apparently suck at marketing. ^^;; My next step is to make a free ad-supported version of my first app, which is how I ended up here when I was googling for info on ad-providers.

I've been coding since I was around 10 or so (can't remember :P) and playing games for as long as I can remember. Used to work as a games programmer for XBOX/XBOX360/PlayStation2&3/PC, but I prefer to actually have a life instead of being chained to a desk for 23/7 where you need to ask permission to pee. ;)
In my spare time, I love to dance, mostly oriental styles, playing online games, crafting, and a million different things. Very much into reading sci-fi and non-fictional books in that area too. :)

I've got a blog that follows my process with my app and the game I'm making:
http://blog.superamazing.se/
My released apps can be found here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SuperAmazing (Looking at ad-options atm to make a free verison of What's Up Wallpaper.)

Hope to get to know you all better!

Hi there !

I'm Cédric. I live in the south of France.
I'm currently working as software architect, project manager and developer, mainly on Java, GWT and FLEX.
I'm developing Android apps on my free time because I like making small games, and the mobile platform is the ideal medium for this, and I want to stay up to date on technology !

I first came here through the blog, looking on information about app marketing etc. I've already got a couple of useful informations from this blog and forum. Hopefully my own experience will be useful to someone else soon.

I've got a blog where I discuss Android development and also graphic resource making with Inkscape/Gimp. The blog has just started so there are only a few posts:
http://www.picoludi.com

My first game YaMeMo (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.picoludi.yamemo) is out. I'll make a better presentation in the "self promo" area when I have more time.
I'm still experiencing some development and marketing ideas on this one, but I've got ideas for at least two other games.

I'm Ken and I hail from Los Angeles. I'm a long time video game developer and am now moving into the mobile market. I'm very pleased to have found this blog and this forum. Thanks David!

I am developing using flash (embedded in a AIR container) with the intention of releasing my games on iOS in addition to Android. If anyone is doing the same I'd be more than happy to trade notes. :)

In terms of gear I currently have a HTC Thunderbolt, a Kindle Fire, and an iPhone 3G. There may be an iPhone 4 or 5, and possibly an iPad, in my future before the end of summer.

Good luck, everybody!

Hey, everyone, I forgot to introduce myself earlier. I'm Thomas from Poland. After years of programming boring desktop and web applications I started making games for Android a year ago and right now it's moved to be sth more than a hobby. Apart from that I work as a freelancer and sometimes have a problem finding free time to make games. I'm also very bad at marketing. :D

Hi!

I guess it's time for me to introduce myself too.

My name's Axel and I'm from Sweden. I recently turned 16 (about a month ago). When I was about 10 I wanted to program games. I found a program called "Game Maker" which was great for me. Later I wanted to program games for my mobile phone instead. I started looking online for tutorials. Everyone used different programs and it was too confusing for me at the time so I gave up on that idea.

A couple of months ago I got a new phone, the ZTE Blade, which had Android. I hadn't programmed for a while but I really wanted to make a game for this phone. I started looking online on how to start and found a lot of great help. I started working on my first 'game' Math Trainer after learning the basics and tried looking online when I got stuck. This worked out great and it was done about a month after I started working on it.

I've had no experience with marketing so the only thing I've really done to promote it is post to a few forums. It has worked out quite well for me as I'm getting about 70 installs a day, had 200 installs at my best day, at Google Play only. The installs seems to have slowed down a little as it's summer now. My application is also the first result now when searching for the Swedish word for "Math" so it will be very interesting to see what effect this will have when everyone's starting school again (when I had 200 installs in one day, 100 of those were from Sweden and it was then result number 6 or 7).

I'm also very happy with the money I'm making (about $2 a day) as I thought it would be really hard to make money with android applications.

In my free time I like to do all kind of things. Running, playing games, etc.

I'm the owner of a ZTE Blade (with Android 2.2) and the 2nd generation iPod Touch.

Happy to be part of the community!

Hi!

Already posted my apps in the "Promote Your Android App" section http://makingmoneywithandroid.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=463

I have developed a couple of apps for Windows Mobile back in the day. But that is completely dead now. I did look at Windows Phone 7 development, but Windows Phone just doesn't seem to be getting any traction. On top of that, the Windows Phone SDK kept changing, which is a pain. So I decided to give Android development a try. Never did any Java programming but I know C and C++ so that was easy. And I am really liking the Android SDK.

I am here trying to learn more about marketing, and I guess signing up on this forum and posting my apps on this forum is a good start ;) If you have any questions about my apps or Android development, feel free to ask.

Hey all!

My name is Steven Page and I am new to these forums! I have been on the programming scene for many years, I am 25 and i hail from Canada, Ontario. I currently manage, program, and trouble shoot robots in a factory called Meridian Lightweight Technologies, where we make the dashboard IP for the Cadillac Escalde!

Besides this I have conducted many operations on the internet ranging from free web hosting, back in the day when free web hosting was hard to come by. The name of this company was 0web (http://0web.org and prior to that it was http://0web.uni.cc) this company has been deceased for almost 6 to 7 years however! After that I still offered private virtual server hosting for pay, while I ventured into some new endeavors.

I tried my hand as designing role playing games for the PC, using everything from my own C++ game engine merging many products such as graphics engines and physics engines to create a video game, and even got into some other things such as Unity3D. One example of MANY projects i worked on would have to be Confied. See the old website here: http://confined.coderzilla.net

I chose this one for this message due to the fact i worked on this on on my own. I also created a single player 3d first person rpg where you can see a video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38LL2oEgZW8

Learning how to design videos games coupled with my programming experience in networking allowed me to make my own working mmorpg client and server, from scratch. I used the core of this engine however in a few projects which i worked on for some companies, but i cannot release this information due to non disclosure agreements and such.

When i picked up my first android the first thing i did was download the SDK and begin programming for it!

So now to the point: I have started up a new company as of recently. Due to the economic downturn, i have started receiving less hours at work, and have decided to start a company online so that i could have a professional company image to conduct business under during my personal by-contract programming endeavors.

It has grown, however, into company which not only does contract work for business', but rather a company which does contract work and also is working eagerly on our own arsenal of software to create a competitive product line.

The company's name is RapidWebs and our website can be found at http://rapidwebs.org and although we are not hiring people for a 9-5 style job, we are looking for some people who would like to participate in a software development organization; we are trying to assemble a team of intuitive artists who are willing to help try and "live the deam"

Our current head quarters in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, but being an internet business, we span the entire globe with people on the team from Egypt, Portugal, Indonesia, Europe, United States and Canada. We are mainly developing software for Android, but having experience on all platforms we are starting some projects for Windows (and other PC variants) as well as creating some intricate server solutions and even dabbling with Open Source Software.

If you are interested in joining the team, head over to http://rapidwebs.org and try checking out the "Jobs" page. Or click the link in the navigation titled "We are hiring!".

Besides all that, I have joined these forums because as I am developing for the Android, I should be getting more in touch with the developer community, and i have decided that this website would be one of many good places to start!

Thanks for taking the time to read my introduction, you may very well see me around the forums! Thanks!

Hello everybody,

My name is Mark and I'm from Tennessee. I got into programming in 2008 during college. I have since graduated and work as a PROGRESS developer. While working, I have became very interested in Android development and have even posted some apps in the market, which can be found here, http://goo.gl/ZFLZ9. As of now, I only get to work on apps in my spare time. I am hoping to eventually get to where I can create apps full time. I enjoy creating apps way more than sitting in a cubical, writing PROGRESS code, where there is no creativity involved.

I came across this site while searching around for marketing help. I have done very little promotion on my apps and I like to see how other people are making it to see if I would even have a chance to do something like this full time. I have came across some success stories and have already picked up a few tips. I look forward to learning all I can and hope that I could be a source of help for people real soon!

Hey, I'm Adam from the UK.
I just signed up to this forum because it seems like a great community and I'm hoping to learn how to better promote my apps, something I'm struggling with at the moment.
I've been designing/developing in the android arena for about a year, if you're curious to see any of the apps I've worked on here is my Google Play page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Silicon+Symphony

Hi all, my name is Wouter(22), from the Netherlands.
I think I ended up here like most of you did by just browsing Android development and revenue.
So.. I'm kind off new to the whole Android dev scene. My first and only app was for a MS Surfacetable for school.
Decided to do something with my life and make an Android app. Did some googling and I came across a few of you android developing bloggers I figured, Hey!
I might as well keep a blog (http://woutersandroidadventures.wordpress.com/)! Would be fun to see what I was doing a couple of months/years ago.
Java experience is so so, android experience, none. Well some now by the time I am writing this.
No PlayStore account yet but I hope to have some of my projects online soon!

Hi everyone!

My name is Lasse, and I'm an… indie developer and founder of Turska Games (http://www.turskagames.com). I live in Finland and as a day job I'm a PhD student involved researching serious games for computer science education. I'm also a father of two boys, so coding time for Android projects is quite limited at the moment. I like designing and developing Android games and hopefully at some point I'll get a bit more profit out of it, so it's worth doing, but we'll see.

If you, for some reason, want to know more about me, you can read an interview by PrePayAsYouGo (http://blog.pre-pay-as-you-go.co.uk/2012/10/21/interview-with-lasse-hakulinen-android-game-developer-and-founder-of-turska-games/) or follow me in twitter: @lhakulin (https://twitter.com/lhakulin)

If you are interested in what happens with Turska Games, check out the: Turska Games blog (http://turskagames.blogspot.fi/)

Greetings All,

I'm Mark from Rochester, New York and I recently started programming for Android devices. So far I have 4 apps published with 3 in the Play Store. I developed my first published app using Tasker and after realizing the need for more control and features I decided to teach myself to program in Java/Android ADT. Developing for Android is a part time venture that I give full time dedication, I'm a professional firefighter for my day job.

Hopefully I can gain some knowledge from the veterans here and maybe I can share something as well. Nice to meet you all.

This app has had client and server sides and took a lot of works, it is almost finished.

I try to share my income and my success factors, if it would be any, as I have learnt a lot from this Forum.

Hi there ! I'm Vincent, from France.

I happen to develop my first app almost by accident (was building something before teaching my student how to do it themselves !), and before I knew what happens, I've put it on the store and I'm now struggling to promote it !
So, I've been lurking on the forums gathering tricks and tips, and general knowledge about this strange and unknown world of app marketing, before I decided to join.

Currently, I've got the impress that I made almost every possible mistake about app promotion (but sure I can do some more !), but I think I'm learning ! (Only earned cents so far).
I'll post about my two apps in the dedicated section. See you there !

What's up guys (and the odd girl)..

I'm a chemical engineer from Cape Town living in Johannesburg, South Africa. I've been playing with computers since the ZX-80 came out with a whopping 1K RAM. (Yes, that's 1024 bytes). I've taught myself Basic, Pascal, FORTRAN, Delphi, Python, C++, Perl and most recently Java and the Android platform.

I started Android development about 9 months ago. I've got 2 main focus areas for now. Educational games (looking to make them age-appropriate as my son grows up). For example see, Count 'n write with me (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.co.nimbus.cwmtrial).

The other area focuses on the mining sector where we do direct sales to the mining industry -- see the MineTrak homepage (http://www.nimbustech.biz).

I have a full-time job working for an oil company, so coding happens on weekends and evenings, when I'm not changing nappies, trying to swallow the dismal performance of the Stormers in the Super XV (any other rugby fans here?) and playing a bit of Texas hold'em. I'd love more time to focus on development, since the ideas are coming thick and fast, but the tiny trickle of money coming in from my apps so far means I'm a long way from leaving my day job :)

This looks like a nice tightknit community so I'm looking forward to becoming a part of it.

Cheers
Cayle

Currently I owned Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

I came here to get more ideas to this wonderful world of android!

greetings every one,
you can call me days (so many reference, but mine is the 4th ending of one of my favourite anime, hikaru no go :)), because my real name is not common and hard to pronounce.
I'm a 4 years experienced android developer from france, and I pledge myself to earn 2000$ until 7th february 2014, and this condition will have hard consequences if not fulfilled. (thanks to this, my motivation is at a level I didn't expected)
I published one video app this week that made me only one download :(.
I'm here to learn how to be successful in android, with no start capital.

I bought some courses like
AppStoreFlipping | Just another WordPress site (http://www.appstoreflipping.com)
you can find some comments here
[App Store Flipper]I made Close to $7,000 In JUST 20 Days With This SIMPLE Flipping Technique! (http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers-forum/796233-app-store-flipper-i-made-close-7-000-just-20-days-simple-flipping-technique.html)

The guy teach you to show copyrighted content from youtube in an app. The sort of thing which get you banned, so I don't recommend you to do the same.

or this
Build Your Own Android? Empire With No Programming Skills (http://appdevempire.com)
this is worse, the course only shows you coding (hard way), with no marketing lesson.

I don't know how to start, and how to be successful with no money :(, so that's why I'm here

droidstunter
2013-11-29, 06:31 PM
DroidStunter here from Tampa, Florida...I've been working in the technology field for more than 10 years, but I've been immersed in computer science since I was a child. After college and about 13 months of MCSE training, I started out as a network engineer/network security consultant for a technology consulting firm and it was a great experience, but I quickly learned that writing software once and selling it more than once is a lot better than having to physically be on a job site until midnight everyday dealing with business owners freaking out because their network is down and everyone is waiting for you to fix it. I started out coding custom PHP/MySql web applications, and as I started figuring out the methodology of software development I decided to attempt an android app for a client about 2 years ago. It turned out great, so I decided to start developing apps for myself full time and it was by far the best business decision I've ever made. I also traveled all over the country performing motorcycle stunt shows and competitions professionally on the weekends for about 5 years (which my boss hated), so I'm not exactly your average computer nerd. I was also on full music scholarship in college for percussion where we traveled around on cruise ships with a show choir and jazz band as the on-board entertainment, so David and I actually have something in common with piano. I was a long time follower of this forum before I decided to join, and the developer community here has proven to be a wealth of vital information if you're willing to look. I'm now focused 100% on game development, and I'm looking forward to the future of mobile in general.

Hi all, I'm an Android app developer just like most of you. I also run a gift idea blog to bring in some side income. Oh and I also design some mustache-related stuff for sale on Zazzle. I started developing for Android in 2012. Started with my own app but that didn't work too well so I moved into freelancing for awhile and now I'm back to developing my own (tiny) products again.

My latest app is a toy app for kids called Me Cashier in which you play as the cashier of a toy store. I incorporated a real barcode scanner in it. If you're interested you can get the link to the Play store in my signature below.

It will be great to be a part of a community that is discussing the business of android and marketing mobile apps.

I also just published my first game on Android - BLOCK FACE BETA. I am calling it beta because it's not completely done yet and I am hoping that folks will give feedback so that I can improve the game.

Creating video games is really fun. It will be fun to connect with you all!

Hey Everyone,

I am a developer over at andromo.com (http://andromo.com/) an online app maker for Android. I write a lot of the client Android code as well as the builder code that translate what is on ourt website into a nativie java Android app. I also write my own Android apps in my spare time and release them into Google Play.

I saw some questions about Andromo here so I thought I'd create an account and answer any that come up.

Hi!
My name is Johan and I'm from Sweden. I've been working as a system developer for a while now. A year ago I decided to make a game for Android since I've always been interested in game development (more than actually playing games) and now I'm only 1-2 weeks away from releasing it. Just hoping it wont be a complete belly flop. :D

There should be a green Post New Thread button on each subforum. For example here in left top corner above the "Forum: Android Development" title: Android Development (http://forums.makingmoneywithandroid.com/android-development/)
But maybe new users are blocked from posting new thread until they post enough posts - since there was a lot of spam lately.

You should be able to create new threads - as @Magnesus (http://forums.makingmoneywithandroid.com/member.php?u=286) mentioned the Post New Thread button is at the top left corner of the page when you're viewing a forum. If you don't see it, try visiting
http://forums.makingmoneywithandroid.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=16 directly, and see if you get an error message.

Good day!

Long time reader, joined today for some chatting and advice. I've made a couple of crappy apps, but now leaning more to the game development, which looks pretty fun. Oh, I made one game already (it took me a couple of years, heh) and, if you're interested, I posted about it in "App promoting" board (http://forums.makingmoneywithandroid.com/promote-your-android-app/12331-crisp-bacon-pig-based-porkour-runner-free.html). Due to the fact that I published it long time ago I have a very hard time promoting it even after a HUGE update. Mistake. So, hopefully, these forums will help me a little bit to not make such mistakes in the future.

I'm currently working on Crisp Bacon content updates and also making my first live wallpaper - a funny and interactive wallpaper pet. I hope to use it as a promotion for my game, not sure if that makes any sense.

Good luck and may your RPM be always high!

One question from you?

Can you please ask Chinese Government that why my apps are not downloaded in China via Google Play?

Looks like local App stores are more popular there and one need to have local documents proof to open account in local all stores?

What document you have provided to Google while opening developer account? NO right?

Then why they need it in China? A indirect way to block outsuders?

I have spent 4 days to convert Chinese simlified language to my apps. but no download in china.
though they arw doing good in other play.
Kindly share the reply with me.

I can't share specific names with you as I had >300 apps and probably try to re-publish them again. Many of them were in the tutorial, gaming and guides section, I think that gives you a pretty good idea.

Yep I had a similar split, but was a little more aggressive.
30% taxes
40% re-invested into new apps, website purchases, and advertisements for my flagships
30% living expenses

Hey gcc,

I am sorry that any non-free apps cannot be sold in China via GP, include apps which provide In App Purchase. My game was not spared too.

Asking China government to give us a reasonable explanation makes no sense. They will not reply to you, they do not care about it at all.

But I still can tell you some fact in China:
1) The bad relationship between Google Inc. and China government. Google does not agree with the content filtering proposed by China government and quit from China. From then, some services are not provided in China, such as Google wallet. So non-free apps cannot be sold in China.

2) All the licensed Android phones/pad sold in China have removed google services from Android system. So you cannot find google play on the phone/pad. Even customers download your apps, it can crash due to lack of google services. Then do you still want to sell apps in China?

But you can publish free apps, replacing In App Purchase with Offer Wall.

That's all. Hope it helps.

Hi all - I'm new around here. I have a single app which has been out for a year now (London Bus Pal) and it is earning me approximately $0.76 a day. Initially developed the app for myself as I wasn't happy with the apps out there - then I added AdMob just to see how it will perform. I then just left it and it grew bit by bit. Recently I got back into the swing of things, re-factored all the code and it's now in a state again where I can constantly add new features. I now want to see if I can boost these earnings, because I've made $272 in the last year - but it would be great if I could make that in a month!!

I work full-time and work on the app in my spare time only - now that winter is here, I'm going to have loads of time to do just that!

My interests include:

I love the Netherlands! I used to spend a lot of time there when I was a kid back in the 80's.

Hello everyone :)

Happy to get involved in yet another mobile app development community!

As the mobile app development world continues to rapidly expand, the amount of products, services, and tools that go hand in hand with proper development grows with it. It's tough to keep track of every new mobile ad network, new development tools, analytics, testing services, translations, and much more.

We've curated and listed over 450+ of the best mobile app development resources for both Android and iOS devs at App Development Resources & Tools | Make That App (http://makethatapp.com/) to make things easier for the community to find what they need efficiently.

We are more than happy to receive any feedback or find new resources to add to our directory so please let us know :)

Happy coding!

Alright, my turn!

Hi, I'm Felipe. I currently live in Sydney Australia. I have a computer sciences bachelor and have been working on IT since 2003. The very first android app I have ever published was in 2012 and since 2015 I have decided to take the app development as as serious business and trying to make it profitable.
Currently struggling very much, but will keep pushing it for the next two years. If it doesn't improve, the plan is to do an MBA and focus on my IT career (I work for a Bank) and that's it, I guess!

Cheers

Buy to Let mortgages are comparable to regular mortgages in many ways, (in terms of the processes involved), however, the deposit needed for a Buy to Let mortgage tends to be more competitive.
