New Google Polices & Guidelines

Dear XXXX,

From time to time Google updates its developer policy, and we at StartApp act fast in order to assure that our products stay compliant according to all the updates.

We are analyzing the latest changes to the policy and the effect on our current products. We will then suggest what steps are required in order to assure that your apps are fully aligned with the new policy.

As always, we are committed to providing you with the newest and most exciting products in short time frames, providing you with top-industry revenue while keeping your user experience in-tact.

What should you do now?

The new policy will take affect for existing application on Google Play beginning April 13th. Until then our products are still fully compliant. In order to continue earning revenue and avoid multiple changes to your application, we recommend that you keep our SDK in place until next Sunday when we will release our new SDK.

And then what?

In the coming days (by Sunday April 6th or earlier) we will notify you about a new release of our SDK, which will be fully compliant with all the updates to the policy.

And in the meantime?

We are here for you. If you have any questions or concerns, as well as any ideas or suggestions, please contact your account manager or our support email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

The StartApp team

That is why I like working with startapp

Airpush Bundle1 SDK will still be compliant as it does not make changes to web browsers.

Airpush EULA lets users know what data is being taken so therefor it is still compliant

This is why me tooo… i’m steal using startApp. Good support

If cleaning will make robot , maybe wallpaper still live some time. Depends of keywords black list. Anyway delete porn and nudity words from your description.

What about the “advertising id” feature which Google wants all ad sdk to have after 1 August 2014.? Does the present Airpush sdk already have it ?

Hi ryanosaur,

We were already aware of the pending change to require using advertiser ids and our newest SDKs use the Google play services to be compliant with this.

Cheers,
Nick

Eventhough this change shouldn’t affect appnext a lot (We’re not doing anything with the browser), how can any company/developer work like that? Google has every right to change it’s policy, but doing it twice a year? Just unfair. I feel bad for all involved. Not every legal action Google makes is cool.

Having said that - I think the correct answer for all these changes might be Native Ads. Start thinking more API, less SDK. We see the results of Natvie ads, and they are much better than regular ads. And less intrusive. Maybe this is the lesson hidden here.

And about the old airpush sdk? Any problem?

Hello to all developers,

We are currently reviewing the changes recently announced to the Google Play Developer Policy, and are analyzing how these changes may affect our current solutions.

We will contact all of our developers, collectively and individually, to ensure the continuity of our offering and relationship, and to go over what will need to be done in order to be fully Google Play compliant.

Stay tuned,

Anni

If have any questions - [email protected]

Startapp bundled SDK change the browser homepage? then, its clearly non-compliant.

I hope we don’t have to change any SDKs if we are not using any out of app SDKs. This time they only gave us 15 days to change which means it would take atleast a week for ad networks to come up with their SDK and we only have 1 week to update all our apps. God Dammit

its really annoying I hope someday we will all have a new market place other than google play that we can actually work with …

I hope that startapp can somehow disable some functionality in old apps with their old SDKs… It would be great if they can just stop changing browser’s settings on the flow. We would not have to update our apps with new SDK

I second that …

Hey everyone,

It’s great reading all your supportive comments in this thread, gives a real sense of community.
As we have already told all our developers in the email we sent yesterday (and you can see above), the StartApp team is hard at work analyzing the new policy and understating exactly what its affect is on our products.

We’re looking forward to letting you know all about the next steps very soon, to make sure we continue to do great monetization together.

Matthew and I are here for any other questions you might have: [email protected] as well as your account managers.

Tal.

I have a few apps ready for submission, this new policy is active immediately on new apps and 15days for existing apps in the system correct?
Which means - do not submit anything before we get new sdks and update all apps?
Not sure if I should risk it & hit that publish button or not

Hi All,
For example if i have 2 apps (app1,app2), for cross promoting my apps in app1 i gave link to app2 play store directly and same goes in app2 with more apps subtitle , if i am doing this is it non complains according to new police, or else do i want to show any message to user once he/she clicks the app2 link in app1 that you will be redirected to play store.?

Thanks.

Soo according to the new Google policies, incentivized ads are not allowed. @andreasv does that mean that filling a survey to open content is not allowed?

Also what about the free game button? It redirects to Google play for app promotion. Is that not longer allowed? @jonathan may be able to comment thetr

Google no need more developers , they want only software corporations in GP and free app from private developers uninteresting.
And goes destruction admob competitors. They took advantage of the enthusiasm of developers who created the android market for them. Now can safely drain all small developers to the toilet. Now is time to repression.
From this moment the GP is dead as a means of promotion for small developers. Unable to pay for self work with similar conditions, which change every few months. Your game or app can delete only because there is something similar to what that game from corporations (like all games in general and on this condition can remove anyone).

About bikini girls = erotic - its it’s just google idiocy. Famous paintings or sculptures too pornography in their concept. At the same time I’m sure that will promote LGBT not prohibited.
Google = Gaygle !

I don’t think so, google wrote that its not allowed to send users to GP or have their device download apks without an action from the user (lets say sending the user to GP just cause he hit an unrelated button on ur app like, “play” or “start” or something)
but if u have a “more apps” then the user is informed and its legal.

what do u guys think?
