Admob: received call from Admob India official.

Thanks for the update. It’s true that users mostly don’t like interstitial ads, but your revenue could go up by 40% or more, and maybe you would get 1 complaint per 50 comments.

appsg is right,
I got call, I did talked to them for around six month and now one of my app got banned, I appealed but no response yet, so yes they would be putting us in danger zone, I don’t know if it’s good or not for long term.

@gen: What was the reason for the ban?

ad is showing above image on top right corner, This is what It seems , funny though,it is like same since last four years and It just got noticed.

Violation explanation given
“ADS AND CONTENT OVERLAP: As stated in our program policies, publishers are not permitted to alter the behavior of AdMob ads in any way. This includes placing ads so that they cover any part of the application content or parts of an application covering any portion of the ads. If your app has drop-down menus they are not permitted to cover AdMob ads.”

I have appealed them, it’s two days and no response,

Your image was above ad or ad above image? Because the second situation happens in 99% games with ads I have seen (mine included)… Unless that image was a button or something? Or the ad covered 90% of it?

I also have some ads overlapping the game screen… we are talking about phones, there is not much space, especially in landscape mode, you are forced to let them overlap and make room for it in your application. This is even a better solution than having a distinct view on the top/bottom of the screen where most of the space is wasted.

As soon as they provide me with a vertical banner which I can attach to the left/right in a landscape mode game, I will be happy to use it - until that I am forced to do some sort of overlap, while taking absolut care, that it does not overlap any touching areas.

You get the calls from admob india. This means 2 things:

Callcenters in India are cheap.

Stuff in Call Centers in India does not feature any sort of common sense. They got a list what to do and they just do it. They are supposed to. Simplest Form of outsourcing. I could imaging, that if your app is flagged (maybe high CTR) you got enqueued to some indian folks, giving you a call and checking your app against usage terms.

Some Advertiser Folks answered in one thread (was it appstart folks?) that they see a CTR above even >1% as suspicious and they then send a mail to see, if anyone is responding. It is possible, that admob does the same (whereas letting the indian callcenter do the contacting)

My apps normally have a CTR < 1% … I prefer this, because it seams to be a legal value. I actually check my apps if and why a CTR is higher.

@gen: thanks for sharing the info. I too use banner ads on the game-play screen, but as reiti.net says - as a distinct view (there is a rectangle for ads and they kind of “separated” from the game-play screen).

Ad above image

Today i receive an email from admob, tell me schedule a call to “grow AdMob ad revenue, specifically interstitial”.
It safe to ignore? And they include the name of “Optimization Specialist” at the end of email

In my case they called me even though I have ignored the e-mail. It was just a simple talk - they promoted interstitials, promised that after I integrate them they will call me again with a report but they never did.

Yeah I’ve been receiving calls from Google Ireland almost monthly, for 6 months… I also was invited to attend a summit in Google Istanbul… They’re nice
