Buying Installs or Paying for reviews on websites/youtube

I’ve bought installs before, and it real hasn’t paid off at all. If i had $100 to spend every day on 500 + installs then I can see my apps getting successful but I just don’t have that type of money. So the next thing I’ve found is getting your app reviewed on websites and youtube channels. Again, if it’s not a big app website or big youtube channel then it won’t really matter.

What would you guys prefer to do?

If I’d to risk my money in just one thing I prefer PPI.

My own experience showed me that twitters FB and AdSense campaigns didn’t pay off.

Of course, everyone has a different opinion/ experience. Maybe I did something deadly wrong.

I think he’s asking if paying for reviews on android app sites and youtube works better than buying installs. But, I agree on your statement that PPI has worked much better for me than any CPC or CPM networks like admob or fb. I hear some people do well with fb if they get the settings right, but I have better results with ppi like appbrain.

As far as buying reviews, I don’t think it’s very effective. It probably depends a lot on which site your buying from.

Hey, that’s one thing I’ve never tried was PPI. Can you give me more info on it? I am on AppBrain website now, really don’t know how it works.

Hi! Did you ever buy installs on other than appbrain ad-networks like Chartboost, Startapp, Revmob or others??? I am asking about this, because i have earn some money in Startapp publishing campaign and now i can spend it just converting from publishing to advertising…And i don’t know, does it work well or not…And one more question: How much CPI bid you use in Appbrain and in what region??

I am joining the above question:)

I think you will be the guinea pig. :stuck_out_tongue:

Please give it a try and telll us about your experience as detailed as possible.

I’ve tried admob, but it was cpc not ppi (at that time) and was a waste of money. I think admob does cpi now (they call it cpa), if you let the campaign run for a few days you can change it to cpa once they profile how your ad does.

Haven’t tried chartboost or any others but if they have cpi I’d give them a try. At least with ppi your guaranteed to get installs for what ever price they charge. With cpc or cpm your throwing your money away.

I’ve tried incentivized installs from aye-t. They have a thread on this forum. You can get cheap installs from them. It helped boost me up the top new charts. But it’s really only useful if your in the first 30 days of your app realease to boost up the charts. Your not going to make any money off the incentivezed installs, most will uninstall pretty fast.

As far as price for appbrain, you have to bid a lot higher than you used to, to get installs fast enough to help. The first time I used appbrain I could get decent installs for 0.20. Now it takes over $1.00 to get installs fast enough to help. I haven’t invested in a huge $1 per install campaign, so I couldn’t say if it was eorth it or not.

I was using Chartboost few months ago. I have transferred money from my earnings for campaign - if you want add money from Paypal then the minimum is $150. Minium daily budget is 100$ and CPI is 0.5$
I have set one country (it was UK) and after about few hours I have reached the limit (in fact I have exceed my budget because it shows me now -$30, the settings were 0.6 CPI, $100 limit) hard to say how long it took because the stats aren’t updated realtime.

In appbrain’s average bid map it is said that in india avarega bid is about 0.4$. I need 1$ to make decent ammount of downloads? I can’t believe:) What bid you need in your opinion to spend 1000$ in one week?

AS with all PPI networks if you want big volume downloads you must bid high. With lots of trail/error i had a few Facebook campaigns where i was getting USA installs for 12 cents per BUT no volume, what good are 5-6 downloads a day ? that doesn’t bring your app in the “Trending” or up in search. PPI is good if you have a big budget and solid app. just my 2c

Wow, nice info, thanks a lot, but can you say something about effectiveness of that campaign?? Hom much active users did you get from them? Maybee you share yours in-app (if you used in-app) or some eCPM boost (if you used ad-networks) or anything else that you can say about effectiveness of Chartboost advertising campaign. Thanks.

And one more thing. When you used CPI model, you paid also per click? or only per install?

But, just think about CTR and active users. When you bought 5-6 installs/day/0.12c/ and you get an 5-6 avtive users that share your game with friends, buying in-app and so on, why not? it’s not volume but you also shoud doing other marketing activities. BTW, can you share what targeting you doing to bring users with 0.12c per install? It’s too hard for me…

Well if Facebook ads was easy everybody would have promote there for cheap  no magic formula, just test like crazy, set up 5+ campaigns with different text and pictures, set the budget at a few bucks a day and see what works. It’s no rocket science but really time consuming and boring to death. There are people that do that for a living (Facebook ads for clients) if you don’t have the time but have some money you can hire a “specialist” i don’t want to advertise another forum here but Google is your friend this case, you can find it easily.

This is very interesting topic so i bump it.

I checked appbrain bid optimizer. It’s seems realy expensive. It seems that charboost looks much better for average campaign. What do u think about it?

Hi guys! I followed up this thread. We have a PPI or CPI company.

Can you guys give us some app’s link to test a new feature we have? The only condition is to help us follow up the stats in your app. (one app per developer please)

Please add me on skype: live:waypedia

Thanks!!
