OldSchool

Hi there,
I just got an idea. It’s actually nothing new. In the 90ies and early 2000, there was something called “Webring” and button sized links were used to advertise fellow webmasters, which maintained websites of the same topic.

What, if a group of independent developers would create an ad-ring. and instead of using home-ads trough commercial ad-providers, independent developers could place ads in apps of ad-ring partners. This would bring much more control to the developers. A calculation model must be developed, but I would think, that normal customers that are annoyed of cheap ads might be happier if they see an “non”-commerical project banner. A nice story could be made up for the project as well

What do you think?

This is a great idea! I’ve looked into it before and found this network: http://ez-ex.wikispaces.com/

I never got around to trying them though, I went with applifier instead because they seemed to be more established/polished, http://www.applifier.com/ I just integrated applifier today, and will let you know how well it does.

Good idea - in fact, I believe @Martin started work on a similar concept some time ago. Here’s the thread: http://makingmoneywithandroid.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=21

There haven’t been any updates for a while though, so not sure how it’s going.

Yeah, I need to finish that project
Got so busy developing my apps and blogging, just did not had time to continue.
But I did not forget about it, I have been brainstorming on how the network should look like.
I’m planning on starting coding on this project when I finish some updates of my other apps. I Wish I could freeze time or clone myself.

That would be cool xD - my own “own” slaves

Haha yeah, a whole little army of me’s.

Don’t we all? I’ve started so many projects, only just getting close to finishing some of them. Some people thought computers would be our own “army” of personal servants. But it seems they’re just taking time, not saving it at the moment…

Yeah, thats why I make feature lists with new private projects. Else you end up expanding the project and never finish it. But with this project the fact was that I wanted to finish my apps first. And those took more time than planned. Also I end up making a lot of updates because the downloads are just too low.
