Survey asks 10,000 developers for their income from mobile apps

A large survey was conducted asking 10,000 developers in 130 countries how much money they make from mobile app development.

Some of the results that surfaced are that:
[ul]
[li]50% of iOS developers and 64% of Android developers are below the “app poverty line” of $500 per app per month[/li][li]Out of all developers that are interested to make money from mobile apps, 24% actually make nothing at all and another 23% make less than $100 per app per month[/li][li]3% of mobile game developers who have shipped 50+ titles are 9 times as likely to be earning over $50K per app as the 62% that have shipped between 1-3 titles[/li][/ul]

There are quite a few devs in this forum that have well crossed the $500 per app per month threshold, which shows that it’s possible to be full-time with Android development if you gain enough experience and you know what you are doing.

The survey was conducted by Developer Economics in April-June 2014 and you can download the full report here or read some of the app revenue highlights here.
